History of Comedy Kaze

It is fair to say, although not entirely accurate, that Comedy Kaze sprung out of an improvisational group from Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. Players from a group at OCC splintered and began rehearsing in the front room of CK member Sean Wellengard's house. After rehearsing, workshopping, and experimenting every week for well over a year, the group began to get invitations for auditions as well as competitions with other improvisational groups including Improv Schmimprov located in Fullerton, CA. Members left to pursue their own ambitions. Fights broke out, were reconciled, and broke out again. Life passed by. Then one day, with the addition of a new member named John Schwendinger, an opportunity arose to begin performing at the Costa Mesa Playhouse.  Comedy Kaze performed at the Costa Mesa Playhouse for over a year, cultivating and refining its voice.

In summer of 2010, an opportunity presented to begin performing at the Monkey Wrench Collective Theater in Downtown Fullerton.  So Comedy Kaze has moved up in the world, if not somewhat north.
